Crusty and caramelised on the outside, fluffy and tender on the inside. What’s not to love about caneles? This little French pastry originated from Bordeaux in the 15th or 18th century and is now widely-loved all over the world. Lucky us to be spoiled for choice here in KL!
Burrow, Bangsar Shopping Centre

The first “canele cafe” in Malaysia where everything is done beautifully; from the space, to the caneles themselves, to even the customer service. Definitely put this on your list if you have not tried. Burrow keeps their caneles interesting with different flavours including seasonal ones. Did we mention that this cafe is halal too? Burrow has omitted the rum from their canele recipe, so everyone can enjoy this iconic French pastry.
Orito, Plaza Damas

Orito is better known for choux pastries, but their canele is equally as good! Orito keeps the rum in their canele recipe to keep it as close to the original French recipe as possible.
Three Years Old, Jalan Sin Chew Kee
Three Years Old does matcha exceptionally well and if you love both matcha and canele, definitely give the matcha canele a go! Caneles can be order by the piece or in a mixed box of original and matcha caneles.
Kiara Cakes

The cakes here are to die for, with keto and organic ones too! Besides making cakes, Kiara Cakes also has some of the fattest caneles in town. Come have one in this pretty little place, and have some cakes while you’re at it too!
Croisserie, Damansara Heights

No stranger to the residents of Damansara Heights and its neighbouring areas, Croisserie has always been known to have quality bakes. Croisserie’s caneles are also alcohol-free for the enjoyment of all. We do highly recommend their other pastries too, especially the creme brulee tart!
